Why I Photograph Outside of the Green Box

This here is why all of my pictures are taken outside of the green box (and why my camera was the best investment ever).

These pictures were taken in my basement.  The first one I let the camera choose the settings resulting in of course a flash picture.  The second one I cranked up the ISO to give me some light, lowered the f-stop (notice his jammies getting increasingly blurry), and did not use a flash as with all of my flashless pictures.
